Buy 270 winchester ammo for sale online, A bullet’s flight path is also called its trajectory. Seasoned shooters measure the trajectory in inches of bullet drop, milliradians (MIL) or minute of angle (MOA).

A flatter trajectory is preferred for long-range shooting because shooters need fewer adjustments to compensate for bullet drop. The 6.5 Creedmoor provides an excellent example of a flat trajectory, as its bullet drops relatively little at long range.

The 270 Win has a .277” diameter bullet. Its ballistic coefficient (BC) varies from .261 to .508, depending on the bullet’s weight and design. Its ballistics coefficient reflects how efficiently a bullet overcomes frontal air resistance and resists wind drift. A bullet with a higher BC won’t necessarily have a flatter trajectory, but it is inclined to exhibit a more consistent and predictable trajectory. Although many factors contribute to accuracy, a higher BC unarguably helps.

The 270 Winchester is not a long-distance caliber, but it holds its own out to about 400 yards. I typically zero in my 270 Win centerfire bolt-action hunting rifle at 200 yards. That gives me a reasonably flat trajectory for hunting large game like elk, whitetail, and mule deer with my 270 Winchester firearm.

When zeroed in at 200 yards, a Barnes VOR-TX TTSX BT 130-grain bullet will drop about -6.0” at 300 yards, -18.5” at 400 yards, and -37.5” at 500 yards.

Below, you’ll find a sample 270 Win bullet drop chart that gives you a general idea of the 270 Winchester trajectory.
